Rev. Alton E. Blakely is a native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is formerly from St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, Ok. In 1988 he announced his call to preach and in 1990 was licensed to preach by Pastor M. L. Jemison, Pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. In the summer of 1998, Rev. Blakely left Oklahoma City to pursue a M.Div., at Perkins Theological Seminary on Southern Methodist University (SMU) campus in Dallas, TX.

 

That same year he joined First Baptist Church, McKinney, TX. under the direction of Pastor Lee A. Edwards and served as the Administrative Assistant. He went on to serve as the youth pastor, and in 2003, after receiving his M.Div., was promoted to Christian Education Director.

 

Rev. Blakely went on to Pastor Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Honey Grove, TX. for approximately two years before returning to The McKinney First Baptist Church and resuming as Christian Education Director. In 2012,
